Some other information on what can be offered, and good practice.
Forbidden Food:
Since meat, wine, onions and garlic are by their inherent nature in the mods of raja and tama guna, the Vaisnava is forbidden to eat them, rr even touch them. Other items which we can try to avoid are as follows: intoxicants milk mixed with salt milk from animals other than the cow milk from a cow without calf milk from a cow during the ten day period after bearing a calf milk from a cow that has been mated. milk mixed with buttermilk milk in a copper vessel red spinach red dal kalambi sak burned rice white eggplant radish coconut water in a bell metal vessel honey and yoghurt in a copper vessel ucchista (someses remanants) mixed with ghee sesame, cornmeal, and yoghurt at night barley during the day burned preparations ones own half-eaten fruit or sweets (saved and to be eaten later)
Also its good practice to clean the place where you eaten prasadam, and wash your plate cup etc, then wash your feet, hands and mouth.

Though a person may be devoid of the qualities mentioned above, if he is devoted to guru and the Supreme Lord, he can become purified and eventually become a suitable candidate for initiation through performance of devotional activities.
Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krishna! Please accept my respectful obeisances!
I just went through Brihad Bhagavatamrta and my head is still spinning after reading it. The superlatives are really causing some heart stopping moments. Why? Because in it, it makes it clear that the mercy of Nitaai Gaura breaks all records and setting this record is something big even for the Lord Himself! I just can't believe it! How can we even express this in words? What kind of level are we talking about when we say Nitaai Gaura naam is most merciful? I am still in a strange state of shock and I can't believe this is possible -- it is unreal, crazy! Nitaai and Gaura's mercy is so, so great that it approach the point where it creates a ridiculously large, show stopping gap between them and the mercy shown anywhere, anytime, by any other incarnation of Godhead. Jaw dropping! Now we're talking BIG mercy and I mean BIG !
So let's get to the point.
1) We cannot even comprehend the richest type of luxuries that exist in on this earth. Evidently from the Puranas the kind of opulence that existed earlier makes our senses drool. But......
2) Above earth is Svargaloka, the opulences are millions of times greater. One diamond can't be bought by ALL the money in this planet, people! And that's a fact! You don't get old age or disease there and no one dies miserable deaths. But.....
3) Above earth is Maharloka, which is millions of times more than Svargaloka. The demigods are made to look poor and they look green with envy at that opulence. But......
4) Still greater than that is Janaloka and already things must be becoming hard to digest, but even Maharloka residents aspire to go higher to Janaloka. But....
5) Above that is Tapaloka, and there we have perfected yogis seeing the Lord in Samadhi. This type of bliss is hundreds of billions of times greater and it comes only to the greatest siddhas. This bliss approaches closer to spiritual bliss on seeing the Lord within. But.......
6) Above that is Satyaloka, and over there we have direct darshan of Lord Vishnu served by Lakshmi devi. Brahma's bliss is so great that all the yogis ultimately do penances for trillions of years just to attain his abode. Ultimately all jnana yogis go there and attain liberation with Brahma. There things are so great that the scriptures are personalities -- yes sir! Like you and me! But.....(again)
7) Beyond Brahmaloka lies the earthly covering where the pleasure of the WHOLE UNIVERSE is there and makes Brahma's abode dirt cheap by comparison! And it is not an exaggeration my dear friends, no! The enjoyment is ten million times greater than Brahmaloka. But.....
8) After that come the next layers of water, air, fire, space, mind, intelligence and finally pradhana. EACH layer is far, far to the power of far times greater and the pradhana represents the HIGHEST happiness in all the material creation! Souls there get pleasures whose subatomic particles are the pleasures of the universe within. So 7 layers over. But wait! There's more.......
9) Then comes impersonal brahman, which is another billion times more. Now THIS is the kind of bliss that is the highest goal of the monists who want to merge into God's formless feature. So much so that it tempts us to totally forget that if anything could be higher. But.....
10) Then above that is Shiva Loka, where Lord Shiva goes mad with bliss in sankirtana. This type of bliss is so great that it is the only other bliss that is respected by the spiritual world. Shiva's devotees don't want Brahman at all. Hang on to your seats. Now we are actually progressing......
11) Then comes VAIKUNTHA! Hooray! We are at the abode of the Lord. This bliss is infinite and I mean infinitely more than Brahman and devotees simply spit at impersonalism in disgust. That is the INFINITE bliss. From here on it becomes a personal matter. But for Gopa Kumara......
12) The next highest stage came at Ayodhya the abode of Lord Ramachandra. All the residents of Ayodhya are even more beautiful than Vaikuntha and there is great intimacy in service. Hanuman cannot imagine anyone other than Rama, not even Vishnu. The bliss is even greater by a million. But for Gopa Kumara.....
13) Then comes Dwaraka where the bliss is totally unlike anything even by Vaikuntha standards. Billions of times more than Vaikuntha, this is even greater. But for Gopa Kumara......
14) Then he gets to Vrindavana via Puri Dham! At last! We are here....Gopa Kumara is a cowherd boyfriend of Krishna! And this bliss is infintely, no! Indescribably more than even Dvaraka and he very well forgets about all the other abodes!
15) The ecstasy and the bliss of the Vrajavasis is so much that even the Lord is totally overwhelmed and cannot do anything but drown in it. This is THE SUPREME LORD KRISHNA! If he gets drowned by it, what can we say about his devotees?
By now if your mathematics was correct you must have got infinity to the power infinity to the power infinity etc, etc, etc.......
16) But WAIT! Now, Now comes the MOST IMPORTANT Part. Lord Nitaai Gaura are so merciful that they are willing to give away THIS BLISS, and the whole of existence agrees, they are willing to give this like FOR FREE --- ON THIS EARTH (do you remember that tiny little planet at the start ?)
Even scrap metal is very costly, but Gaura Nitaai give THIS INFINITY POWER INFINITY etc...like some throw-away matter. If you have not gone beserk by now, please help yourself to Nitaai Gaura's gifts. BUT WAIT! IT'S NOT OVER UNTIL THE LAST LAP IS RUN.........
17) Prabhodhananda Sarasvati in Chaitanya Chandamrta says that even the residents of Vrindavana by attaining shelter of Gauranga, Nitaai Gauranga's names, abodes, pastimes, qualities, all..... attained a level of bliss and ecstasy that they did not get EVEN IN GOLOKA. It was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HIGH!
NOW THAT IS THE MERCY OF GAURA NITAAI. THEY GIVE THAT HIGHEST AND TRULY HIGHEST BLISS AND WE ARE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE EVERYTHING INCLUDING GOLOKA WITH GAURA NITAAI ALONG WITH SOME MORE..........! NOW WHAT LEVEL OF MERCY, WHAT LEVEL OF BLISS, WHAT ARE WE TALKING ABOUT?
Don't you all agree that this is a record breaker? Big isn't it? If you haven't fallen unconscious or gone mad by now, then please do not restrain yourselves any longer, please feel free to just ................................................. (I'm sorry, I'm out of words now....you please fill up the gap)
I am not realized. My knowledge is just theory. But if any realized devotee actually understands this, how can they not stop themselves from falling unconscious and drowing in the ocean of pure love. Is it even possible not to? But ALAS I am so fallen that I am not able to get any ecstasy and I am feeling so dry and materially dirty. I am such a cheater eating stool. How will I be saved?
Ans : That's where the devotees -- guru and sadhu come in. They give us eligibility where we are unqualified to reach the Lord. In that case WHO CAN UNDERSTAND THE MERCY OF GURUDEVA!
Jaya Nitaai! Jaya Gaura! Hare Krishna! Jaya Gurudeva! I pray that you all go mad with joy on reading this and give me the chance to serve you eternally, just serve you that's all. That's enough for me. That will ensure that I can also drown in love, eventually....................
Very contaminated and totally insincere and foolish, Srinath
Question is it not an offense to give Krishna to non devotees?
Ten offenses to the holy name. Lord Krsna is His prasadam and is non different from His prasadam so is it an offense to give prasadam to non devotees is an offence.
To throw Krsna prasadam away is an offense.
so please remember don't accept more prasadam then you can eat.

In sleeping – Gaura, in dreaming – Gaura. Gaura is the star of my eyes. In life – Gaura, at the time of death – Gaura. Gaura’s name is the precious necklace I wear around my neck!
hiyara majhare, gauranga rakhiya, virale basiya raba manera sadhete, se rupa-cadere, nayane nayane thoba (3)
Keeping Gauranga inside my heart, I will sit alone and fix my mind on His enchanting moon-like form. I will gaze in His eyes and become absorbed in His beauty.
gaura vihane, na vashchi parane, gaura ka’rechi sara gaura baliya, jauka jivane, kichu na cahiba ara (4)
Without Gaura I cannot live. Gaura is my everything. I pray to give up my life taking the name of Gaura – I ask for nothing else.
gaura gamana, gaura gathana, gaura mukhera hasi gaura-piriti, gaura murati, hiyaya rahala pasi (5)
Gaura’s movements, Gaura’s nature, Gaura’s smiling face, Gaura’s love, Gaura’s full form – all enter my heart.
gaura dharama, gaura karama, gaura vedera sara gaura carane, parana sampinu, gaura karibena para (6)
Gaura is my dharma, Gaura is the object of my karma, Gaura is the essence of the Vedas. I surrender my life at Gaura’s lotus feet. It is Gaura who will take me across (the ocean of material existence).
Gaura is the essential sound vibration and wealth for that person in whose heart He manifests. Narahari dasa always prays to take shelter at the feet of such a person.
AND ALSO
Nitai-Gaura-Nama Shrila Locana dasa Thakura
nitai-gaura-nama, anandera dhama, jei jana nahi laya tare yama-raya, dhare la’ye jaya, narake dubaya taya (1)
The holy names of Nitai and Gaura are the abode of all jubilation. Those who never utter these names are taken by Yama Maharaja and immersed in the hellish planets.
tulasira hara, na pare je chara, yamalaye vasa ta’ra tilaka dharana, na kare je jana, vrithaya janama ta’ra (2)
Those who never wear tulasi neckbeads take their permanent residence in the abode of Yama Maharaja, and those who never adorn their foreheads with tilaka live their lives in vain.
na laya harinama, vidhi ta’re vama, pamara pashanda-mati vaishnava-sevana, na kare je jana, ki ha’be tahara gati (3)
Those who never chant harinama have an unfavorable destiny. They are fallen and their stone-like hearts are filled with deceit. And what will be the destination of those who never serve the Vaishnavas?
guru-mantra sara, kara ei bara, vrajete haibe vasa tamo-guna ja’be, sattva-guna pa’be, haibe krishnera dasa (4)
Now the time has come to receive diksha from Shri Guru. If one chants these mantras carefully, one will come to live in Vraja forever. The mode of ignorance will go, goodness will come in the heart, and one will become the eternal servant of Krishna.
e dasa locana, bale anukshana, (nitai) gaura-guna gao sukhe ei rase ja’ra, rati na haila, cuna kali ta’ra mukhe (5)
This Locana dasa instructs everyone to always chant Gaura-Nitai’s holy names. Those who have no affection for gaura-rasa will be publicly defamed – their faces will be covered with lime and black tar.
Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! My humble obeisances to you! Jaya Guru Parampara! Please allow me to answer this question with my little knowledge
The descriptions of the structure of the universe are there in Srimad Bhagavatam 5th canto about halfway down the chapter list starting with a description of Jambudvipa. You can check out http://vedabase.net/sb/5/en
If you want some explanations of all these things, then please check out the Mysteries of the Sacred Universe video set on Youtube and also please see Vedic Cosmography by (departed) Sadaputa Dasa Prabhu here.
The higher planets like Tapaloka are attained by those who have sufficient pious karma and qualities from the lower planetary systems. Mystic Yogis from the lower planets go to Tapaloka. Its only on earth to we have children and mundane sex. The demigods at the level of Brahma have subtle bodies from which they can create all types of entities and planetary systems from any part of their body and by mystic power.
As one goes up further and further, the structure of the universe becomes higher dimensional and considerably more subtle and does not obey the gross laws of nature that we know. Even at the level of the sun and moon, it becomes indescribable as our gross senses have not the power to perceive the abodes of the demigods. These higher dimensional lokas are seen only by those with sufficient mystic siddhi. Time and Space change totally at higher levels. What is so many billions of light years is only 4 billion miles to Brahma and a small atomic particle to Karnodakashaayi Vishnu.
The oceans of milk butter and sugarcane are located in celestial abodes where is no degradation or fermentation. Such things happen only in these gross abodes like earth. In the heavenly planets this type of degradation does not exist. It is mentioned in Shrimad Bhagavatam about the type of life in heavenly planets so we to put two and two together.
Also very importantly I recommend you read Brihad Bhagavatmrta Second Part by Sanatana Gosvami in the Story of Gopa Kumara to learn everything from earth to Goloka and the true meaning of all the Vedic processes. He attained the Tapaloka by mantra siddhi. There the Yogis perform esoteric yogic meditations.
Dear Mihir, Nityaananda!! Gauraanga!! Hare Krishna!! Shrila Haridasa Thakura was never tired of loud chanting. He used to chant mentally for some time because according to Hari Bhakti Vilasa, manasika japa is described as dhyana samo hi sah i.e. mental chanting is equal to deep meditation on the object of chanting. Thus, when he wanted to go very deep into trance on the Lord, he would chant the Holy Names mentally as it was not possible to loudly vibrate the Names at that time. That said. one can also attain complete absorption and the stage of deep meditation by loud chanting and Naama Sankirtana which is practically easier for the practicing souls rather than trying to hear the Holy Names within in the conditioned stage.
Dear Swamiji, Please accept my humble Pranam at your lotus feet. All Glories to Shrila Prabhupada and all Vaishnava Acharyas. I like to know about Tapoloka in our universe. If every one is deeply engage in Tapa all the time then how do they have children and how the population is sustained there? I visualize Tapolock is like the denizens are constantly engage in Tapa. They must be Brahmcharis.
While back Shrila Prabhupada indicated in one of his talk that the descriptions of all the planetary system is in Shrimad Bhagvatam. I have all sets of Iskcon Bhagvatam and I searched and could not fond anything like that. Please let me know where is this treasured knowledge is hidden in Bhagvatam. I am deeply interested in the life and all customs in all our universe planetary systems. If I may ask one more thing about the ocean of milk, butter, sugar cane and so forth in other planets. Is this true? The thing like milk is an organic product and will it be like milk we drink? Will it not get spoiled in time length? Are these things are also indicated in Shrimad Bhagvat? Can you guide me through it please.
I apologize to trouble you because of my shallow knowledge. I am a full believer in you and read your emails and watch videos. Hare Krishna My Dear Swamiji Maharaj.
Thank you for the above information. I was wondering that if Haridas Thakur said that loud chanting is better than mental chanting still why did he not chant 300000 names of loud chanting daily. Rather he chanted 100000 names of loud, 100000 names of soft and 100000 names of silent. May be the reason could be that since loud chanting consumes a lot of energy it is not possible to chant loudly 24 hrs a day. However I am not sure what the reason could be (because may be a pure devotee can do loud 24 hrs though not sure about this also) so I request you to guide me with the same. Also a few months back I have come across some information posted by Swami Gaurangapda. Here it is
(1) Mental chanting can only be bear fruti if one can properly recite and hear the Mantras within. But our hearts in the beginning stage are filled with so many material impressions and desires. So it is very difficult to properly hear the sound vibration mentally within in the neophyte stage. We may think we may be hearing inside but we are not actually chanting or hearing. So the change of our heart is very slow. It is only when one practices constant loud chanting for a period of at least five years one can properly pronounce, hear and meditate on the Holy Names while chanting mentally.
(2) If one is chanting adequate number of rounds of the Holy Name loudly daily over a period of a few years then one can add some mental chanting to it without giving up the loud chanting. Like Haridasa Thakura was chanting 100,000 each loudly and softly first before chanting 100,00- mentally.
(3) Mental chanting may be personally beneficial to us more than loud chanting when we can actually do it but loud chanting is much more beneficial to all the souls of this world than silent chanting because one devotee loudly chanting the holy names purifies and delivers the whole universe.
(4) There is an easier method for silent chanting which we will be explaining and elaborating on in later posts which is to write the syllables of the Mantrarajas in the air or paper or to deeply meditate on the syllables while chanting mentally which facilitates easier concentration on hearing the Mantrarajas in the mind. Each syllable of the Mantrarajas are non-different than the Lord so mental meditation on the syllables while chanting creates very powerful and instant remembrance of the Lord. We will be soon teaching this process in the form of NITAAI Lekhana Yoga.
Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Dandavats and obeissances.
Here is a conversation from Caitanya Bhagavata between Naama Acarya Srila Haridasa Thakura and a foolish brahmana regarding the benefits of loudly chanting the holy names versus softly chanting the holy names with purports from Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada.
CB Adi-khanda 16.268 TEXT 268 “aye haridasa! e ki vyabhara tomara dakiya ye nama laha, ki hetu ihara? TRANSLATION “O Haridasa, what is this behavior? Why are you are loudly chanting the names of the Lord? COMMENTARY That foolish, ignorant, atheistic, fallen brahmana said, “There is no injunction for loudly chanting the names of Hari in any scripture; rather, it is recommended that one chant within his mind. Therefore the loud chanting of Hari’s names by Haridasa is prohibited by the scriptures. Therefore his engagement in such activities is most improper.” Being controlled by such blind faith, that brahmana arrogantly asked Haridasa the reason for his loud chanting. His conception was that since Haridasa Thakura was not born in a seminal brahmana family, he was completely unqualified to act as a spiritual master, the giver of the holy names. He feared that if Haridasa loudly chanted the names of Hari he would have to automatically hear the holy names from the mouth of a pure devotee and thus naturally become his disciple, so he wanted Haridasa to refrain from loudly chanting hari-nama, which is the function of a jagad-guru. This proves the brahmana’s foolishness, ignorance, and mistaken ideas regarding the scriptural conclusions.
CB Adi-khanda 16.269 TEXT 269 mane mane japiba,-ei se dharma haya dadiya laite nama kon shastre kaya? TRANSLATION “The injunction is that one should chant in his mind. Which scripture says that one should chant loudly?
CB Adi-khanda 16.270 TEXT 270 ka’ra shiksha,-hari-nama dakiya laite? ei ta’ pandita-sabha, balaha ihate” TRANSLATION “Who has taught you to chant the name of Hari loudly? Please give your explanation before this assembly of learned scholars.”
CB Adi-khanda 16.271 TEXT 271 haridasa balena,-“ihara yata tattva tomara se jana’ hari-namera mahattva TRANSLATION Haridasa said, “You all know the glories of Lord Hari’s holy names.
CB Adi-khanda 16.272 TEXT 272 tomara-sabara mukhe shunina se ami balitechi, balibana yeba kichu jani TRANSLATION “Therefore I have simply repeated and will repeat whatever I have heard from you.
CB Adi-khanda 16.273 TEXT 273 ucca kari’ laile shata-guna punya haya dosha ta’ na kahe shastre, guna se varnana” TRANSLATION “If one chants loudly, he gets one hundred times more benefit. The scriptures never condemn loud chanting, rather they glorify it. COMMENTARY The result one achieves by mentally chanting the names of Hari is multiplied one hundred times by chanting loudly. This is the injunction of all scriptures. It is a fact that by chanting loudly one obtains one hundred times greater results. And there is no fault in such chanting. It is to be understood that those who consider the Hare Krishna maha-mantra should only be chanted softly in japa are averse to realizing the purport of the scriptures. The three names of address-Hare, Krishna, and Rama-are meant both for japa and kirtana. One can call the Lord in his mind or out loud. If one calls the Lord loudly, then many persons can hear the name of the Lord and obtain auspiciousness by such hearing. Hearing the names of the Lord is one of the nine principle limbs of devotional service. Unless the sadhus loudly chant the names of Hari, no one becomes qualified for the devotional process of hearing. Therefore the false arguments of those who are averse to loud chanting are certainly incited by Kali. The chanting of the holy names is more or less imperceptible in the activities of meditation, sacrifice, and Deity worship; that is why in Kali-yuga various controversies arise in the performance of meditation, sacrifice, and Deity worship. When those who are victims of Kali come forward to place obstacles in the path of the devotees’ worship of Hari, then those devotees who are engaged in the Satya, Treta, and Dvapara processes of meditation, sacrifice, and Deity worship do not enter into argument; but those devotees who chant the names of Hari remove the wicked habits of the victims of Kali and chant the unlimited glories of the holy names for the eternal benefit of such people. This is the actual medicine for their argument-infected hearts.
CB Adi-khanda 16.274 TEXT 274 uccaih shata-gunam bhavet TRANSLATION “‘If one loudly chants the holy names of the Lord, he obtains one hundred times more benefit than by chanting softly or remembering the holy names.’”
CB Adi-khanda 16.275 TEXT 275 vipra bale,-“ucca-nama karile uccara shata-guna punya-phala haya, ki hetu ihara?” TRANSLATION The brahmana said, “How does one get one hundred times more benefit by loud chanting?”
CB Adi-khanda 16.276 TEXT 276 haridasa balena,-“shunaha, mahashaya! ye tattva ihara, vede bhagavate kaya” TRANSLATION Haridasa replied, “My dear sir, listen to the verdict of the Vedas and Shrimad Bhagavatam in this regard.”
CB Adi-khanda 16.277 TEXT 277 sarva-shastra sphure haridasera shri-mukhe lagila karite vyakhya krishnananda sukhe TRANSLATION Haridasa then revealed the purport of all the scriptures as he began his explanation in the ecstasy of Krishna consciousness.
CB Adi-khanda 16.278 TEXT 278 “shuna, vipra! sakrit shunile krishna-nama pashu, pakshi, kita yaya shri-vaikuntha-dhama TRANSLATION “Listen, dear brahmana. If even animals, birds, or insects hear the holy names from the mouth of a pure devotee, they will go to Vaikuntha. COMMENTARY “O brahmana, when the transcendental sound of Krishna’s holy names emanates from the mouths of sadhus, bhaktas, or Vaishnavas and enters the ear holes of any living entity interested in serving the Lord, then that sound vibration certainly frees him from the bondage of maya. The transcendental sound vibration removes the living entities’ propensity for enjoyment and awakens their propensity for service to the Supreme Lord. Since unlike those of conditioned souls in the material sky, there is no ignorance or material enjoyment in the devotees’ tongues, which are abodes of Vaikuntha, and since the transcendental holy names are full manifestations of advaya-jnana, or the transcendental reality, devotees do not become entangled in material enjoyment while chanting. Therefore if a living entity chants the transcendental name of the Lord, he becomes jivan-mukta, liberated even in this life. In order to become liberated from the bondage of material existence, a conditioned soul should accept mercy from a liberated soul by accepting mantra-diksha, or initiation. When one has perfected his chanting, he becomes qualified to loudly chant the holy names. He then becomes extremely distressed on seeing the conditioned souls’ anarthas born of prajalpa and mundane words that gratify the mind, both of which are unrelated to Krishna; as a jagad-guru, he removes their propensities for mundane enjoyment and sends them to the kingdom of Vaikuntha. Ordinary foolish people think, “The shastric statement that just by once chanting or hearing the transcendental name of the Lord one is certain to go back to Vaikuntha is simply an exaggeration.” But actually the extraordinary influence of the transcendental name is not under the jurisdiction of the most tiny brains of such illusioned materialists who want to measure everything with their blunt material senses. If one considers the transcendental name to be in the category of material objects, then his enjoyment prone evil propensities do not allow him to understand the extraordinary, transcendental, spiritual name that is not perceivable to material senses. That is why the absence of faith in the Vedas or in Vaishnava literatures in pursuance of the Vedas is proof of a living entity’s misfortune.
CB Adi-khanda 16.279 TEXT 279 TRANSLATION Anyone who chants Your name purifies all who hear his chanting, as well as himself. How much more beneficial, then, is the touch of Your lotus feet?
CB Adi-khanda 16.280 TEXT 280 pashu-pakshi-kita-adi balite na pare shunilei hari-nama ta’ra saba tare’ TRANSLATION “Although animals, birds, and insects cannot chant, when they hear the holy names they will all be delivered.
CB Adi-khanda 16.281 TEXT 281 japile shri-krishna-nama apane se tare ucca-sankirtane para upakara kare TRANSLATION “If one silently chants the names of Krishna, then he is delivered; but if one loudly chants, then he delivers others also. COMMENTARY One who softly chants the transcendental names benefits only himself, whereas one who loudly and congregationally chants the transcendental names can benefit the audience along with himself. Only a spiritual master who is engaged in krishna-kirtana is compassionate to all living entities and able to perform the highest welfare activities for all.
CB Adi-khanda 16.282 TEXT 282 ataeva ucca kari’ kirtana karile shata-guna phala haya sarva-shastre bale TRANSLATION “Therefore the scriptures say that one gets a hundred times more benefit by chanting loudly.
CB Adi-khanda 16.283 TEXT 283 japato hari-namani sthane shata-gunadhikah atmanam ca punaty uccair japan shrotrin punati ca TRANSLATION “‘One who loudly chants the holy names of the Lord is a hundred times greater than one who silently chants, because those who chant silently purify only themselves, while those who chant loudly purify themselves as well as those who hear them.’ COMMENTARY [This verse was spoken by Prahlada Maharaja in the Naradiya Purana.]
CB Adi-khanda 16.284 TEXT 284 japa-karta haite ucca-sankirtana-kari shata-guna adhika se puranete dhari TRANSLATION “The Puranas say that a person who chants the Lord’s name loudly is a hundred times more pious that the person who chants to himself. COMMENTARY Persons who loudly and congregationally chant the holy names of Hari obtain one hundred times better results than those who chant the holy names softly. If a person secretly hears some ordinary words on the pretext of hearing hari-nama from a foolish so-called guru and, being tempted by material enjoyment, engages in motivated worship, then he will never achieve eternal auspiciousness. Whereas if one loudly chants the pure holy names heard from the mouth of a liberated maha-bhagavata spiritual master, then other Vaishnavas who hear that chanting will discuss the glories of hari-nama amongst each other. As a result, the loud chanters are more benefited than the soft chanters. Those who cannot realize the difference between nama-aparadha, namabhasa, and shuddha-nama often commit the first of the ten nama-aparadhas-criticizing a sadhu or Vaishnava who has fully taken shelter of the holy names-and they commit the grave offense of disregarding the spiritual master by considering him a mortal being and envying him. They commit offense by considering material objects as worshipable and seeing Lord Vishnu, the controller of all, as equal to the demigods. As a result, they become Vaishnava offenders by being faithless of the unalloyed Vaishnavas. They then become inattentive to the service of Shri Nama Prabhu, and the offenses of considering the glories of chanting the holy names as imaginary and giving some interpretation on the holy names capture them. They then consider the holy names as equal to pious activities and become attached to committing sinful activities on the strength of chanting the holy names. Being greedy for donations, such people accept the garb of a guru and, like common merchants, pretend to give instructions on the holy names to faithless persons. In this way they bring inauspiciousness to the entire world. Being overwhelmed by thoughts of “I” and “mine,” they gradually become averse to the Vedic literatures and literatures in pursuance of the Vedic version. These ten offenses result in the falldown of chanters; but by the influence of good association the loud chanters of the holy names understand these offenses and therefore retire from the inconvenience of nirjana-bhajana.
CB Adi-khanda 16.285 TEXT 285 shuna, vipra! mana diya ihara karana japi’ apanare sabe karaye poshana TRANSLATION “O brahmana, listen carefully to the reason behind this. One who softly chants the holy names liberates only himself.
CB Adi-khanda 16.286 TEXT 286 ucca kari’ karile govinda-sankirtana jantu-matra shuninai pai vimocana TRANSLATION “One who loudly chants the names of Govinda, however, liberates himself along with all living entities who hear him.
CB Adi-khanda 16.287 TEXT 287 jihva painao nara-vina sarva-prani na pare balite krishna-nama-hena dhvani TRANSLATION “Although all living entities have a tongue, only the human beings are able to chant the names of Krishna.
CB Adi-khanda 16.288 TEXT 288 vyartha-janma ihara nistare yaha haite bala dekhi,-kon dosha se karma karite? TRANSLATION “Tell me, what is wrong with that activity by which living entities who have taken useless births will be delivered? COMMENTARY Although all living entities are not able to chant the spiritual names, they can certainly hear the spiritual names chanted by devotees of the Lord. The lives of those who are not qualified to hear the spiritual names are certainly most useless. Since by hearing the chanting of the spiritual names, all living entities can be eligible for liberation in this lifetime, such loud chanting of Hari’s names can never be the subject of argument, fault, or criticism.
CB Adi-khanda 16.289 TEXT 289 keha apanare matra karaye poshana keha va poshana kare sahasreka jana TRANSLATION “One person may maintain himself, while another may maintain a thousand people.
CB Adi-khanda 16.290 TEXT 290 duite ke bada, bhavi’ bujhaha apane ei abhipraya guna’ ucca-sankirtane” TRANSLATION “Of the two, consider carefully who is better. This is the superior characteristic of loud chanting.” COMMENTARY A selfish person maintains himself, whereas another person may maintain a thousand persons apart from himself. Of the two, whom should we accept as greater? If we carefully consider, we will understand that loud chanters are not selfish; rather, they are selfless benefactors of others. Therefore loud chanters are superior to those who only chant softly, and loud chanting is hundreds and thousands of times superior to chanting only softly.
Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krishna! It's not over yet! There's still one more!
Antya Chapter 9 (Gaura Sankirtana -- the crowning glory!)
Text 157 One day, Advaita Acarya, wild with bliss, said to the devotees, Text 158 "Listen, O My brothers. Filling our mouths with His names, today we will sing about Lord Chaitanya. Text 159 "Today we will not sing about any other avatara. Lord Chaitanya is the essence of all avataras. Text 160 "Taking Us with Him, Lord Chaitanya descended to the earth to deliver everyone in all the worlds. Text 161 "By His mercy We are honored everywhere. He has given Us the great wealth that is sankirtana. Text 162 "I will dance. You all sing Lord Chaitanya's glories. Roar like lions. Leave behind all the fear in your hearts." Text 163 Lord Chaitanya had hidden Himself. All the devotees thought, "Lord Chaitanya will be angry." Text 164 However, no one could disobey Advaita Acarya's command. They all sang Lord Chaitanya's glories. Text 165 Wild with bliss, lionlike Advaita Acarya danced. In the four directions everyone sang Lord Chaitanya's glories. Text 166 Hearing the names and glories of Lord Chaitanya, the Lord's most recent avatara in this world, all the Vaishnavas became wild with bliss. Text 167 Personally singing about Lord Chaitanya, Advaita Acarya danced. In this way He delivered the worlds. Text 168 He sang: shri-chaitanya narayana karuna-sagor duhkhitera bandhu prabhu mora doya kor
"O Shri Chaitanya, O Narayana, O ocean of mercy, O friend of the distressed, O Lord, please be merciful to Me!"
Text 169 When this verse came on lionlike Lord Advaita's mouth, the kirtana became very glorious.
"Glory to Chaitanya-Narayana! Glory to Chaitanya-Krishna, who is fond of sankirtana! Glory to the Lord who loves the devotees and is destructive time personified to the blasphemers!"
Text 172 Lionlike Advaita Acarya wildly danced. All the devotees sang of Lord Chaitanya's names, virtues, and activities.
A Song in Shri-raga
Text 173 Look at Lord Chaitanya! As He joyfully sings the Supreme Lord's glories, He rolls about on the ground, and the hairs of His body stand erect. He is Lord Krishna Hismelf. He is the king of Vaikuntha. Assuming the form of a brahmana, He has descended to this world. Now He enjoys pastimes of sankirtana.
Text 174 (Refrain, kanaka jiniya kanti shri-bigraha sobhe ati ajanu-lambita-bhuja saja re nyasi-bara-rupa-dhar apana rase bihwal na jani kemana sukhe nace re
His graceful body's splendor defeats gold. His arms reach to His knees. Assuming the form of a sannyasi, He has become wild by tasting the nectar of love for a person who is actually Himself. Why does He dance so blissfully? I do not know.
Text 175 jaya shri-gaurasundar karuna-sindhu jaya jaya brindabana-raya jaya jaya samprati jay nabadwipa-purandar carana-kamala deha' chaya
Glory to Lord Chaitanya, who is handsome and fair, and who is an ocean of mercy! Glory, glory to the king of Vrindavana! Glory, glory, glory to He who is now the king of Navadvipa! O Lord, please give me the shade of Your lotus feet.
Text 176 All the devotees sang kirtana. Meditating on Lord Chaitanya's feet, Advaita Acarya danced. Text 177 Hearing these new verses about the Lord's most recent avatara, the Vaishnavas joyfully sang the names of Lord Krishna. Text 178 How wonderful was the bliss in that kirtana! Lord Nityananda alone has the power to describe it completely. Text 179 Hearing the loud sounds of the kirtana, Lord Chaitanya, the jewel of the sannyasis, came there. Text 180 Seeing Lord Chaitanya, the devotees sang with even more joy, and Advaita Acarya danced with even more bliss. Text 181 Filled with bliss, no one feared Lord Chaitanya. Everyone openly sang of Lord Chaitanya's glories. Text 182 In His pastimes Lord Chaitanya was always in the mood of Lord Krishna's servant. He would say, "I am a servant of Lord Krishna. Please do not call Me anything else." Text 183 No one had the power to face Him and openly call Him "Supreme Personality of Godhead". They could only call Him "Lord Krishna's servant". Text 184 Still, by Advaita Acarya's power they were now fearlessly singing songs declaring that Lord Chaitanya was Lord Krishna Himself. Text 185 Lord Chaitanya, the jewel of the sannyasis, stood for a moment and listened to the songs glorifying Him. Then He became embarrassed and fled. Text 186 To teach everyone, Lord Chaitanya, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the supreme siksha-guru, went home when He heard others singing a kirtana glorifying Him. Text 187 Even so, fear was not born in any heart. Now they sang the Lord Chaitanya's glories all the more. Text 188 External consciousness was not present in anyone's body. Everyone saw that Lord Chaitanya was present in the kirtana glorifying Him. Text 189 Everyone wildly sang Lord Chaitanya's glories. They became almost like madmen. The saintly devotees heard that kirtana with joy. The wicked were unhappy to hear it. Text 190 Of what value are brahmacarya or sannyasa to a person who is not pleased by Lord Chaitanya's glories? Text 191 In this way the devotees always joyfully sang sankirtana of Lord Krishna's holy names. Text 192 Anyone who reads or hears of all these blissful pastimes will one day meet all the personal associates of Lord Chaitanya. Text 193 Singing and dancing, all these great devotees went to see Lord Chaitanya. Text 194 Hearing the kirtana glorifying Him, and then seeing how everyone had come, Lord Chaitanya became afraid. He lay down to go to sleep. Text 195 Saintly Govinda informed the Lord, "All the Vaishnavas are at Your door." Text 196 Lord Chaitanya ordered Govinda to bring them all inside. Then Lord Chaitanya went to sleep. No one looked in any other direction. They looked only at Him. Text 197 Afraid, all the devotees meditated on Lord Chaitanya's feet. Text 198 In a moment Lord Chaitanya, who dearly loves His devotees, awakened. He said, "Ah! All the Vaishnavas! Text 199 "Ah! Ah! Saintly Shrivasa Pandita! Why have You all come here today? Text 200 "Why, abandoning Lord Krishna's holy names, and abanonding kirtana glorifying Lord Krishna, have you all come and awakened Me?" Text 201 Very eloquent Shrivasa said, "Lord, the individual souls have no power to act independently, against Your will. Text 202 "As the Supreme Personality of Godhead makes me act and speak, so I act and speak. This I tell to You." Text 203 Lord Chaitanya said, "You are all panditas. Why do you hide your knowledge?" Text 204 Hearing Lord Chaitanya's words, Shrivasa Pandita moved his hand as if he were trying to cover the sun. Then he laughed. Text 205 Lord Chaitanya said, "What do you hint by moving your hand like that? Tell Me what your gesture means." Text 206 Shrivasa said, "With this hand I will cover the sun. Thus I tell You the meaning of this gesture. Text 207 "Do I have the power to cover the sun with one hand? In the same way, You have no power to hide Yourself. Text 208 "Even if some day I get the power to cover the sun with my hand, You will still have no power to hide Yourself. Text 209 "On the ocean of milk You could not hide Yourself. How will You hide Yourself in the world of human beings? Text 210 "Your pure glories will fill every direction, from the Himalayas to Setubandha to the entire earth. Text 211 "The kirtana glorifying You will fill the entire universe, reaching up to Brahmaloka. How many people will sing in that kirtana? How will You punish them all?" Text 212 The Supreme Personality of Godhead always chants the glories of His devotees. Now a great wonder had come to the Lord's own door. Text 213 From where did so many thousands and thousands of people come? I do not know. After seeing Lord Jagannatha, they all went to see Lord Chaitanya. Text 214 Some had come from Tripura, others from Catigrama, orthers from Shrihatta, and others from East Bengal. Text 215 Thousands and thousands of people sang a kirtana glorifying Lord Chaitanya. Text 216 They sang:
"Glory, glory to Shri Krishna Chaitanya, who is forestflower-garlanded Lord Krishna! Glory, glory to the Lord who now happily tastes the nectar of devotional service to a person who is actually Himself!
Text 217 jaya jaya parama-sannyasi-rupa-dhari jaya jaya sankirtana-lampata murari
"Glory, glory to the Lord who has now assumed the form of the supreme sannyasi! Glory, glory to Lord Krishna, who is now eager to enjoy pastimes of sankirtana!
Text 218-219 jaya jaya dwija-raja baikuntha-bihari jaya jaya sarba-jagatera upakari
jaya krishna-chaitanya shri-sacira nandan
"Glory, glory to the king of brahmanas, who is actually the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the master who enjoys pastimes in Vaikuntha! Glory, glory to the Lord who blesses all the worlds! Glory to Saci's son, Shri Krishna Chaitanya!"
In this way everyone sang while a hundred persons danced.
Text 220 Then Shrivasa said, "Lord, what will You do? The whole world is singing. Where will You hide? Text 221 "Lord, what should I teach the whole world? Lord, the whole world is singing like this. Text 222 "Lord, You do not appear before the conditioned souls. They cannot see You. But because You are merciful You now stand before their eyes. Text 223 "You hide from them, and also You reveal Yourself to them. They who attain Your mercy understand You." Text 224 Lord Chaitanya said, "By your own power you arranged all this. With your own mouth you told everyone in the world. This I know. Text 225 "I am defeated by you. Listen, O pandita, I know you have all powers." Text 226 The Supreme Personality of Godhead always praises His devotees. That is His nature. This the Vedas and the Shrimad-Bhagavatam say. Text 227 With a smiling face Lord Chaitanya bid farewell to all the Vaishnavas. They all returned to their homes. Text 228 Lord Chaitanya loves His devotees. Because of Him everyone chants, "Krishna!" Text 229 Lord Nityananda, Lord Advaita, and all the other personal associates of the Lord affirm, "Shri Krishna Chaitanya is the Supreme Personality of Godhead." Text 230 They who disagree with the Supreme Lord's words and say that Lord Chaitanya is not Lord Krishna are unfortunate.
So there we are! Getting the original verses will take a while. But I have them and will do so when able. I have seen two translations and everything is quite consistent. If we had Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati's purports it would have been even better.
Thank you Srinath. This is good research. The original Bengali verses for these verse translations would make it even more authentic whenever you can find time to add them or I can also add them at my end. Nityaananda!! Gauraanga!! Hare Krishna!!
Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krishna! Here are all the slokas from the CB on Nityaananda Gauraanga naam I could find. It is my realization that anyone who has any doubt about Nitaai Gaura Naam should read the Chaitanya Bhagavata -- then all will become clear. Jaya Chaitanya Bhagavata! Jaya Vrindavana Das Thakura! Jaya Nityananda Gauranga!

Text 170 They are like persons who worship Lord Krishna but do not honor Lord Siva. These sinners go to Yamaraja's abode. Text 171 In this incarnation Lord Nityananda is carefully hidden. Text 186 Lord Chaitanya will deliver everyone, all except the sinners who blaspheme Vaishnavas. Text 187 Even the demons melt when they hear Lord Chaitanya's name and birtues. Only the vilest of sinners will not honor Him.
Antya Chapter 3
Text 386 Anyone who once sings Lord Chaitanya's name or virtues at once crosses the ocean of repeated birth and death, an ocean that becomes like a calf's-hoofprint mud-puddle. Text 387 Why, then, should be surprising that everyone successfully crossed the Ganga as they went to directly see Lord Chaitanya?

The Sheer potency of Nityananda Gauranga Sankirtana : Text 329 Accompanied by the devotees, Lord Nityananda sang kirtanas glorifying Lord Shri Krishna Chaitanya Text 362 Small children, who did not know anything, uprooted big, big trees. Text 363 Loudly roaring, they uprooted trees and threw them about. Shouting, "I am a cowherd boy!", they ran here and there.
