Dear Disciples and Devotees, Nityananda!! Gauranga!! Hare Krishna!! Jaya Shri Guru Parampara! I would like to kindly request my disciples and devotees who are receiving spiritual guidance and shelter from me and those who have access to the internet, to write to me by email at least once a month or post on NITAAI.com informing me about their spiritual and chanting monthly progress and other news which they would like to share, receive blessings for or need guidance about. Those disciples who do not have internet access can write to me by snail mail or call me. Disciples can fix a monthly date in their calendar to do so.
This will help me to pray for your constant spiritual progress and keep you in my remembrances during my meditations on Lord Gaura Krishna. It is a great happiness for the Guru to regular know about the spiritual progress and devotional service of the disciple and thus keep the disciple in his prayers. You can just write honestly about your realizations and your honest successes and failures in chanting and devotional service during the month. This will help me to pray for you in the right way to our Lord Nityaananda and Lord Gauraanga Krishna.
We can harmonize any minor changes, or non esential changes, that Srila Prabhupada did, in the light that He is a Saktyavesa Avatara, that means that have the power to establish changes, acording to Time, Place and people capacity.
"I offer my humble obeisances unto His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupad, who is Krishna's beloved associate and who came down to this plane from Goloka. Taking the order of his guru on his head, he is the saktyavesa [empowered] avatar of Nityananda Prabhu personified. He distributed the Hare Krishna mantra all over the Eastern and Western world, delivering and uplifting all fallen souls

This is the feeling of Srila Sridhar Maharaja, Srila Govinda Maharaja and the Sri Chaitanya Saraswath Math.
By Mahabhagavata, I mean fully Siddha. As I have said before, after a soul is Siddha or perfect, it does not matter much whether the soul was a Nitya Siddha or a Sadhana Siddha because the soul is an Associate of the Lord in either case and each Associate of the Lord has the powerful to make us the Lord's Associate either by his or her Vani or Vapu. Nityananda!! Gauranga!! Hare Krishna!!
Thank You dear Swami Gaurangapada Maharaja, dear Srinath and dear Damodara Svarupa dasa prabhu for Your insightful replies to my question.
With the use of the term "Mahabhgavata", is a Nitya Siddha Devotee of Lord Gaura Krishna meant? Or simply a Pure Devotee, be him Sadhana Siddha, Nitya Siddha or even a devotee of a Madhyama Adhikari platform?
Nityananda!! Gauranga!! Hare Krishna!! Shrila Bhaktisiddanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada followed this system of naming all his sannyasi disciples with either one of this 108 last names for Tridandi sannyasis. Shrila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada while preaching in the West, according to time, place and circumstances, decided to transfer the brahmachari names of some of his disciples to their sannyasa name since their brahmachari names were already very spiritual and also as a way to give credit to the wonderful services the devotees rendered in their brahmachari lives. As it is said in the Vedas, phalena parichiyate (judge everything from the results), the very fact that Shrila Swami Prabhupada could fulfill the desire of his Gurudeva Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta Prabhupada by successfully preaching in the West means that his Gurudeva Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta gladly approved the minor changes he made while preaching according to the time, place and circumstances.
Dear Matus, Nityananda!! Gauranga!! Hare Krishna!! Jaya Shri Vinoda Sarasvata Vedanta Guru Parampara! As we know, association with the Vani of an eternally perfect Associate of the Lord is even more powerful than personal physical direct association with him or her. We have seen many souls, who inspite of being in the personal association of a Mahabhagavata devotee committed offenses and thus were not able to appreciate or take benefit of that pure association. This was due to their lack of understanding of the Vani of that Mahabhagavata. Shrila Bhaktivinoda Thakura states that a Vaishnava always lives in sound vibration of his Vani eternally. Whereas he is only present for a few years on this planet via Vapu.
There is nothing in Vapu or physical association which is not there in Vani or association by hearing or reading and thus it is not mandatory to have physical association with a Mahabhagavata to become a Mahabhagavata ourselves since all the benefits of that Vapu association can be attained by Vani also. In any case, direct physical association with the Holy Dhaamas of Puri, Navadvipa and Vraja can always be had by the sadhaka along with the association of the purest Vaishnavi Tulasi devi and Naama Prabhu and last but not the least association with the Mahabhagavataas of Gaura lila in the form of Shri Chaitanya Bhagavata, Shri Chaitanya Charitamrita, Shri Navadvipa Dhaama Mahatmya, Shri Chaitanya Mangala etc.
That said, devotees who are not quite advanced need Vapu or physical association to stabilize their devotional practice. And higher the quality of Vapu, the more they are inspired and encouraged on the path to understanding the Lord and the Associates by Vani. So direct physical association with a Mahabhagavata is certainly an ideal situation but it is not the only way to attain love since their Vani is always available to us also, especially of the Associates of Lord Nitaai Gaura.
Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krishna! Please accept my respectful obeisances! It is not wrong to ask about perfection. This is not material perfection.
What is real perfection? The real perfection for us jiva souls is to become the servant of the servant, nothing else. Our idea of perfection is relative, therefore we consider our humble position to be a defect. But the truth is that we are in illusion because we refuse to accept our real position as perfect and instead try to be something else, namely trying to be the Lord. That is the cause of all our bewilderment. The more we try to be something else, the more and more fallen and miserable our situation becomes. Those who suffer worst in illusion are the most impersonal.
Perfected souls are of two types : Sadhaka Siddha and Nitya Siddha. Sadhaka siddhas are souls who become perfect and attain the spiritual world and Nitya siddhas are those who are eternal residents of the spiritual world who never reside in the material world. Words are inaccurate though because once one attains the spiritual world one is not different from the eternal residents there.
Association with a devotee is of two types : Vani (Sound) and Vapu (Physical). Without the association of a devotee, no one can attain perfection of going back to Godhead. They are our gurus, we are their servants. Without them, we will always rot in this material ocean. Although on the absolute level there is no difference between the two, still for the conditioned souls, there is a difference.
The preaching movement is a vani movement, nevertheless conditioned souls are so fallen that they cannot get the full benefits of associating with vani alone. We end up scratching the surface and with our level of contamination, it will take an unfathomable amount of time to get complete association with vani. On the relative level, vani is passive association for conditioned souls. Vapu on the other hand is active association. We need that for guiding us. When we slip, when we get doubts, when we do not understand vani, only vapu can save the day. How will we get diksha? Diksha can be given only by vapu. Who will take the trouble to make us learn and show us the path? Just as the Lord descends in his deity form for us, so the devotees descend personally to the world to save us.
So the answer is simple : Yes. Direct association of a pure devotee is absolutely necessary. The books and audios and all other vani is meant to drive us to the feet of Sri Guru who in turn gives us qualification to properly associate with vani. It is absolutely necessary. But where it is not so easily available, then we must still try for the next best thing, such as this forum. Without association we cannot be delivered.
Modern technology has resulted in the distinction between vani and vapu to be blurred considerably as shown by this site. We are fortunate to have managed to get the association of gurudeva H H Swami Gaurangapada and many other devotees here. Nevertheless there is no substitute for seeing the guru face to face and being actually able to fall at his feet...oh the mercy!
Nityananda, Gauranga, Hare Krishna. Jaya Guru Parampara, Jaya Swamiji Gaurangapada.
My dear Matus,
According to my opinion, the definition of Nitya-siddha is a person whose state of mind is to never forget the Supreme Personality of Godhead. There are those, whom I never met in person, who can be called Nitya-siddha. Our diksha Guru and our siksha Gurus can be called Nitya-siddha. Not having met them in person, will I therefore attain or just not attain 'perfection'? What is perfection anyway? Is it possible for a human to become perfect? Personally, I'd rather stay focused on my way Back to Godhead, than trying to obtain 'perfection'. Another idea is that although I never met Shrila Prabhupada in person, I can still read/follow His preachings in His (audio)books He left for us to hear/read and study. His Spirit/Soul is within His books. He still 'speaks' to us...
Hope to read more comments on this topic. Nityananda, Gauranga, Hare Krishna, Damodara Svarupa dasa

Dear Swami Gaurangapada Maharaja, dear Devotees Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Please accept my most respectful obeisances.
i have the following question: Does one need to personally (physically) come across a Nitya Siddha Devotee of Lord Gauranga Krishna in one's life in order to be able to attain perfection?
Dear Devotees, We have added 62 new high quality videos at NITAAI.com/all which is the all-in-one NITAAI Yoga Media Player playing mp4, divx, wmv, flv and mp3 files. We will be adding smaller 100 kbps versions of these videos at NITAAI.com/100 soon.
Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krishna! My humble pranams!
I need to know which Vaishnava wrote this poem of 108 verses glorifying Lord Gaura's names, forms, qualities, pastimes, abodes and devotees. It is fantastic. Prepare to EXPLODE! But please excuse the layout and typos. I just got this poem from somewhere and I don't know who wrote it.

Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krishna! My humble pranams!
In my opinion, the best answer is given by Krishnadas Kaviraja Gosvami in Caitanya Caritamrta Adi Lila Chapter 2. Please see http://vedabase.net/cc/adi/2/en
My name is Sanj, and I am striving to be a celibate, I have struggled terribly over the years, even suffered depression, I don't know how deep I should go, but I need alot of clearing up.
Dear Swami Gaurangapada Maharaja and assembled Devotees, Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Please accept my humble obeisances.
i have a doubt i would like to place at Your Holy Feet for clarification: As far as i could understand, Lord Gaura Krishna is the Original Supreme Personality of Godheat, out of whom all His Other Forms expands, including Lord Vishnu. If this is the fact, then why is Lord Krishna listed among the Ten Incarnations of Lord Vishnu? What is the connection between Lord Vishnu and Lord's Avataras?
Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krishna! My humble pranams! This is taken from an article published by ISKCON, but it applies to all Vaishnavas in general.
Questions about attitude toward impersonalism
Q: I want to hold all beings in a spirit of love and acceptance. I want to accept others' decisions about their spiritual path and continue to be open to associating and not always try to convert anyone away from their chosen path. That is a major concern to me. What do you and ISKCON think about this?
A: As Vaisnavas we would say that there is no truth beyond Krishna. This is confirmed by Krishna in the BG 7.7, where He states, "There is no truth superior to Me". ISKCON is dedicated to spreading the glories of the Personality of God, not His impersonality. Lord Krishna in His form as Chaitanya Mahaprabhu has said that the Mayavadis are offenders at His lotus feet, since they maintain that the personal aspect of God is ultimately an illusion and that the impersonal aspect, or the oneness is the final state of transcendence.
Actually this debate between the personalists and the impersonalists, the Vaisnavas and the Mayavadis, has been going on for thousands of years in India. The disciplic succession that ISKCON descends from has been very active in this debate. If you study our history you will find that all the great acaryas of our line of teachers have been very adamant in their refutations of the Mayavadi philosophy. Madhvacarya traveled all over India to refute the Buddhist and Mayavada philosophies. Lately Srila Bhaktisiddhanta and Srila Prabhupada have been very heavily on the case of impersonalistic philosophies. Why? Because impersonalism ruins the chance of the individual soul to engage in loving service to Krishna. Therefore the Mayavadis have been described as offenders by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. It is the duty of the disciple to faithfully render the teachings of his spiritual master, without adding or subtracting anything. Therefore it is the duty of everyone in ISKCON to strongly speak out against Mayavada philosophy.
Of course we would never, ever suggest that someone should not be free to choose whatever spiritual path he feels comfortable with. Even Krishna does not interfere with the living entity's free will. But it is also the mission of ISKCON to disseminate proper spiritual knowledge into society, and to preach the glories of the Personality of Godhead.
There is no need to disturb anyone's mind. But if the question arises or there is a public debate, it is the duty of the Vaisnava preacher to present the philosophical conclusions of the disciplic succession. And the Vaisnava conclusion is in direct opposition to the Mayavadi conclusion. There is simply no way around this clash of ideas.
Q: People of differing spiritual views, I believe, should be accepted and respected.
A: That is true. One should respect all living entities, no matter what their beliefs are. But it is not that we have to respect a philosophy if it is wrong or speculative. Then it is our duty to point this out. We will of course respect - not necessarily agree to - anyone's belief. What else can we do? None can be forced to think in a certain way. But we have to provide the our alternative so that people can choose for themselves. Just like your kids. It is not that you respect and condone everything they do. Sometimes you simply have to get on their case and tell them what they are doing or thinking is plain wrong, isn't it?
Q: Sometimes I perceive a bit fanatic approach among Vaisnava devotees. This attitude is one of my fears about giving the Vaisnava path a try, honestly.
A: Krishna says in BG that His devotee should take care to respect all living entities and not give them any trouble. But He also says that one should preach the conclusions of Bhagavad-gita. Usually a Vaisnava will not preach to those who are not receptive or who do not want to hear, but sometimes - like in a public debate - it has to be done for the sake of those who listen in on the debate.
I think you should not fear giving the Vaisnava path a try. In whatever path you choose in life you are bound to meet opposition as well as neophytes within the process itself who will turn you off by their immaturity. This is after all Kali-yuga - the age of quarrel and hypocrisy. What can be done? If you choose a Mayavada path you will also find that they hate the conclusions of Krishna consciousness.
Discussion about advaita and God
Q: You ask, "Do you understand how insignificant we are on this planet?" I do not relate to the word "insignificant". As part of consciousness, I feel neither significant nor insignificant.
A: Depends on our angle of vision. If "we" denotes human and other beings (living organisms) on this Earth which is just a tiny speck in the universe then we are surely insignificant.
Being more precisely defined as parts of consciousness as you say, then we can be considered significant as eternal, knowledgeable and blissful entities, parts and parcels of the Supreme Whole.
Now follows the important question - what is the nature of that Supreme Whole/Consciousness/Brahman etc.? This question is as old as the history of human philosophy itself. There are two general opinions, expressed as two main schools of philosophy - impersonalistic and personalistic.
Mainstream Judaism, Advaitism (followers of Sankara), Taoism etc. fall into impersonalistic category whereas personalism is promulgated by Christianity and Vaisnava sampradayas (schools). ISKCON is a branch of one of them, Brahma-Madhva-Gaudiya sampradaya, and presents the acintya-bhedabheda-tattva, "doctrine of inconceivable oneness and difference", the ultimate synthesis of all personal-impersonal approaches. This philosophy is based on a deep understanding of Vedic literature, which is considered a supreme evidence in all Indian philosophies.
The Supreme Reality is understood to have both impersonal (lower) and personal (higher) aspect and this seeming paradox is "inconceivable". Still, we offer explanations enabling to partially understand it, so we are not agnostics.
Q: I have trouble with the various older writings which phrase reality in terms of a feudal society. While I realize that these teachings do lead to knowledge, I also suspect that we are transitioning to a higher level of consciousness where the individual will relate directly to higher consciousness.
Of course, I also recognize that my "suspicion" may merely be a reflection of my Jewish orientation to the cosmos. We do not believe in intermediaries. That is one reason we do not understand Catholics who have Mary and various saints for intervention. Thus, if there is a single GOD, like a FATHER, we would related directly without asking mother to intercede.
However, to me the idea of a GOD, the Father, is a limited notion which segments the totality of consciousness. People who are accustomed to families with someone telling other people what to do can understand a cosmos which is set up in the same fashion. Likewise, people can understand a cosmos which basically reflects the familial pattern on a larger scale with Lords taking the place of the father.
A: As I explained, the Vedas hold a contrary view - the totality of consciousness or Brahman is a subordinate aspect of personal God, Bhagavan. This can be understood by a simple logic - the superior must include the inferior. Brahman, being an effulgence of Bhagavan, is dependent on Him, not the other way around. One can approach God either directly through meditation or through intermediaries like spiritual masters and saints through prayer and devotional service. However, He prefers the second way and to its followers He reveals His full, personal aspect, whereas to others He reveals Himself only partially, as "Light" or "Total Consciousness".
These universal hierarchies are not superimposed from the earthly reality by humans but just the opposite is true - our earthly social structures are reflections of a higher, universal structure.
Q: Consciousness invests itself into certain forms, which depending upon the state of their nervous systems, can or cannot perceive that they are not little children or servants, but merely facets of the totality. The fact that certain organisms happen to have nervous systems which allow them to more readily perceive the totality of the universe does not make them superior - just fortunate.
A: Nice example of the relation between our nervous system and us (particles of consciousness) is that of relation between a computer and its user. If you have just an old 486 you are pretty limited and disadvantaged in comparison with a Pentium user, although as persons, living entities, you are both on the same level.
However, we, living entities, _are_ children of God and also His servants. Only because we did not like it we were sent to this material world full of suffering. Being servant of God does not mean to suffer (as we have experienced in the position of servants in this world) but to be happy in His company.
The word "fortunate" suggests a random occurrence but in reality our present hardware (bodies) depends on our previous actions. This is called a law of karma, a physical law of action/reaction on a subtle level.
Q: I recognize that on this level there are lots of individualized aspects of consciousness and that they see themselves as separate and distinct from each other. I imagine that on higher levels of consciousness, there may be other particularized manifestations that think that they are separate and distinct from each other.
A: This separation is experienced only on the bodily level which unfortunately prevails more or less in the whole material world.
Q: I do not see any reason to think that just because some entity is on another level that it is necessarily all-knowing. There may be a different set of errors for different levels of consciousness.
A: Yes. Only really all-knowing and supremely blissful entity is the Supreme One. Others possess different grades of perception/reasoning abilities, knowledge and happiness. They - consciously or unconsciously - look for the higher expressions of these features as their ideals and models because they inwardly understand their own imperfections and want to compensate them.
Q: To the extent the Lord-master, Father-child approach reinforces the idea of distinct entities, it leads people away from an understanding of the totality of Oneness.
A: Totality of Oneness, however, does not fulfill their expectations, at least not forever, because on the stage of being immersed in oneness there is a lack of impressions and activities which are inherent to us, even on the purely transcendental level.
Q: The value of believing in the hierarchical approach is that it imposes order on society. Chaos is not good. Unfortunately, order imposed from the top-down also leads to oppression.
A: This is our experience in this material world. But it is not natural for us to be here. Therefore we suffer all kinds of tribulations, oppression being just one of them. Our home is in the spiritual world, where everything shares the same nature as God - eternity, knowledge and bliss - and hierarchy there is qualitatively completely different than here.
Q: The visionary sees the totality of the universe and his "light" often brings coherence to society. After his passing, his followers establish institutions. At first they usually want to teach, but when other people do not follow, the become angry and demand obedience to "God's Will". Soon there is oppression in the name of God, which may lead to some outward coherence, but oppression breeds hostility, resentment, anger and rage... which always result in incoherence.
A: Fanaticism has many varieties, religious is just one of them. Often a nationalistic fanaticism is disguised as a religious one. Srila Prabhupada used to say, "Religion without philosophy is sentimentalism or fanaticism, and philosophy without religion is dry speculation". History shows ample cases. Vaisnava philosophy has both heart (transcendental devotion) and head (transcendental knowledge) and therefore Vaisnavism in general never fell into the above mentioned traps, what to speak of oppression and hostilities.
Q: Thus, I like to think that we, as an entire species, are moving to a higher level where we can dispense with the hierarchical approach with its inevitable oppression. Eventually direct perception will result in coherence without oppression. Maybe not. Maybe biological organisms are inherently incoherent. But this leads me to speculate how the totality of the universe can have incoherence as one of its attributes.
A: We are inherently incoherent with matter, our present bodies and this material world which is "programmed" to be incoherent with us for our rectification.
Q: Maybe I will get out my copy of the Bhagavad-gita and pursue it for a while.
A: Very good! And get also Isopanisad, to fully understand the personal vs. impersonal nature of Absolute Truth, Krishna, from the foremost of Upanisads.
To summarize your text: You are basically rejecting the materialistic religious ideas in favor of impersonalism. But you have to go further, to the perfect stage of transcendental eternal religion, sanatana-dharma. That is also our goal. We are endeavoring and it works.
The present European calendar came into vogue around 7 A.D. India, since ancient times, has been following the lunar calendar. The Western calendar has undergone many variations and adjustments from time to time e.g., at one stage the first six months had 31 days each while the last six months were 30 days each.
Uptil the Mahabharat War the world had a single, unitary administration under Vedic sovereigns, which reckoned the day from sunrise to sunrise centering on India. Consequently, other regions of the world stuck to the Indian time schedule. Thus for instance, when the sun rose in India at around 5.30 am it used to be midnight hour in Britain. Therefore the Vedic administration in Britain calculated its date from midnight to midnight.
When in the course of time the world became divided into regional states resulting in mutual strife. The British ruled India for about 200 years uptil 1947 A.D. The midnight to midnight reckoning under British rule, emanated originally from the Indian sunrise time. Modern calculations based on that midnight time often result in a error of one or two years in timing.

39. Since these are lunar years, there were two Adhik Masas every 5 years, and in 13 years there were 5 Adhik Mases and 12 days. But these were merged in the lunar years as Adhik Mases. Tithiwayas and likewise, Bhishma and Yudhishthira followed this calculation as correct, but Duryodhana insisted on anonimity solar years, which was unacceptable in those days.
40. Since the period was over the previous day, Arjuna declared his identity. Arjuna was carrying his bow Gandiva for 30 years from Pramodoota to Sarvari, and he told Uttara that he will carry it for another 35 years. The next day, on Dark 9th Day, Pandavas declared their identity. Yudhishthira was yrs. 89-10-9 days old.
41. Pandavas stayed in Upaplavyam for yr. 1-2-17 days. During these days, consultations, marraige between Uttara and Abhimanyu in Shubhakrit Jyeshta month, marshalling of armies, Peace talks by Draupadi's Purohit and Sanjaya took place.
In Aswayuja month, there were lunar and solar eclipses, portending evil and destruction.
42. Shri Krishna's Peace talks : Shri Krishna started on Shubhakrit Kartik Bright 2nd Day, in Revati Star, reached Hastinapur on the 13th Day, and held peace talks upto Dark 8th Day. 43. So Pandavas stayed in Upaplavya for yr. 1-2-17 + 15 days = yr. 1-3-2 days.
44. Both the Pandava and Kaurava armies marched to Kurukshetra on the New Moon Day. The period from Margashirsha Bright 2nd Day to 12th Day, was taken up by installation of tents, arranging Army rehearsals etc. etc.
45. The Great Mahabharat War started on Shubhakrit Margashirsha Bright 13/14th Day, Tuesday in Bharani Star. Yudhishthir was yrs. 91-2-9 days old. Just the previous day 11/12th Day, when armies were rehearsing Vyuhas, Arjuna fell into a gloom, occasioning Lord Krishna's famous BhagavadGeeta discourse with Arjuna.
46. Bhishma's Fall : On Margashirsha Dark 7th Day.
47. Abhimanyu's Death : Abhimanyu was killed on Margashirsha Dark 10th Day. He was aged 32 years (From Pramodoota to Shubhakrit). Since marraige was in Jyeshta month, he led only 6 month's family life, and Uttra was 6 months pregnant.
48. Saindhava's Death : Saindhava was killed on Margashirsha Dark 11th Day.
The battle was continued even into the night.
Drona was killed on Margashirsha Dark 12th Day at noon.
49. Karna's Death : Karna was killed on Margashirsha Dark 14th Day.
Salya was killed on Margashirsha New Moon Day at noon.
50. Duryodhana's Fall : He fell on Margashirsha New Moon Day/Pausha Bright 1st Day in the evening. He died the next morning on the Bright 1st Day.
51. Balrama started on pilgrimage on Kartik Dark 5th Day, in Pushyami Star. So, date-wise and star-wise also, pilgrimage took 42 days.
52. Ashwatthama murdered Pandava's sons during the same night on Margashirsha New Moon/Pausha Bright 1st Day night, and conveyed the dire information to the dying Duryodhana on Bright 1st Day early morning. Defeat of Ashwatthama : on Pausha Bright 1st Day.
Except Pandavas, Krishna. Satyaki and Yuyutsu on Pandavas side, and Kripa, Krutavarma and Ashwatthama on Kaurava's side, all were killed. Yudhishthira told Dhritarashtra that Great Warriors (MahaRathis) killed in the War, were more than 94 crores.
No clear details are available in the Epic, how Pandava Warriors disposed off kaurava armies. Abhimanyu on the 13th Day, killed more than 0.50 Akshouhini army, and Arjuna on the 14th Day killed 5 Akshouhinis.
55. Yudhishthira's age was yrs. 91-2-27. Pandavas observed 12 days mourning from Pausha Bright 1st Day to 13th Day. Mass cremations were done on the 14th day, and the same evening, Pandavas proceeded to Hastinapur.
56. Yudhishthira was crowned on Shubhakrit Pausha Full Moon Day. Yudhishthira was yrs. 91-3-10 days old.
57. Pandavas called on Bhishma (who was prostrate on a bed of arrows) on Pausha Dark 2nd Day, stayed upto 8th Day, listened to Bhishma's advisory discourse, returned to Hastinapur, stayed for 15 days and went to Bhishma again on Maagha Bright 8th day. On 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th day, Bhishma was in meditation. He renounced his mortal coil on 12th day. Hence 8th-12th of Pausha Dark Fortnight is called Bhishma Panchakam. Bhishma fell prostrate on Margashirsha Dark 7th Day. From 8th Day to Maagha Bright 11th Day, 48 days elapsed. "AshtaPanchasatam ratryassayana syasyama gatha" that is, Bhishma said that he completed 58 (10+48) days on the battlefield. " Sarashu nisitagresu yatha varsha satam tatha" meaning, by lying on pointed arrows, it appeared although it was 100 years. " Tribhaga seshah pakshyam suklo" meaning, it is Bright Fortnight, and still 3 parts remained. ( By dividing Bright Fortnight into 10 parts, 7 parts = 10.5 days or 11th day is in progress, and still 3 parts = 4.5 days remained upto Full Moon Day.)
58. Ashwamedha Yadnya began on Shobhakrit Maagha Bright 12th Day. Just earlier, Parikshit was born to Uttara as posthumas premature, still born male baby at 8/9 months, but was revived by Krishna.
15 years later, in Kartik month, Dhritarashtra left for the forest. 3 years later, Pandavas went to the forest to see Dhritarashtra etc. Vidura's death. After 1 month, Dhritarashtra, Gandhari and Kunti got killed in a forest fire.
59. Thirty six years after the Great War, that is in Bahudhanya year, evil omens in Dwaraka were observed. Samba became pregnant and a iron rod (musalam) was born.
60. Yudhishthir ruled for yrs. 36-2-15 days. From Shubhakrit Pushya Full Moon Day to Bahudhanya Pushya Full Moon Day, it was 36 years and adding 0-2-15 days, it was Pramadi Bright 1st Day, when Kailyug started and Shri Krishna finished his Avatar. (B.C 3102-2-20 at 2-27-30 P.M)
61. Seven days later, on Bright 7th Day, Dwarka city was submerged by the Ocean. Saptarishis were in Magha Star, 75 years prior to Kaliyug and remained there for 25 years after Kaliyug.
Yudhishthir Shaka started from his coronation day that is, Krishna finished his Avatar in Yudhishthir Shaka yrs. 36-2-15.
62. Pandavas started for their Final End after 0-6-11 days, that is, on Pramadi Ashwayuja Bright 12th Day. Yudhishthir was aged yrs. 128-0-6. Parikshit, 36 years old, was coronated on the same day at Hastinapur.
63. Swargaarohanam is not clearly stated in the Epic. It may be 26 years afterwards. Sage Veda Vyas dictated the Great Epic to Ganapati only after Swargarohanam of the Pandavas, that is, after 26 years of Kaliyug.
64. Parikshit ruled for 60 years, coronated his 25 year old son Janamejaya, and died.
65. So, Bhagavatha was written by Sage Veda Vyas soon after Mahabharat was over, and before the 60th year of the Kaliyuga.
66. In Dwapara Yuga, human beings lived upto 400 years. There are four stages in life - Balya, Youvana, Koumara and Vriddhapyam. In Dwaparyug, Balya stage was upto 40 years, Youvana stage upto 120 years, and later Koumara and Vriddhapyam stages. But now in the Kaliyuga, Balya stage is upto 15 years, Youvana upto 45 years, Koumara upto 60 years and Vriddhapyam beyond 60 years.
All this data has been gathered from the Great Sanskrit Epic Mahabharat and commentaries on it by various authors.
